Benefit concert set at Duke's
Downtown Gresham merchant Elegantly Funky and East Portland's Duke's Country Bar and Grill will host the third annual Fight for Elegance benefit concert for breast cancer starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Duke's, 14601 S.E. Division St., in Portland.
Proceeds from the event support the Fight for Elegance Fund, which provides payment vouchers to area men and women without insurance coverage or who are unable to afford a mammogram.
Established in 2006, the Fight for Elegance Fund is the brainchild of Elegantly Funky owners, Dina and Kerry Parmenter. Both have lost family members and close friends to breast cancer.
'We feel there is a tremendous need to provide these funds to our community,' Dina said. 'Many people no longer have health insurance or the funds available to receive mammograms.'
Doors open at 4 p.m., with a fashion show scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Cloverdayle takes the stage with live entertainment at 7:30 p.m. The concert is open to those ages 21 and older.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at Elegantly Funky, 101 N. Main Ave., Gresham.
