An early morning fire Saturday morning gutted a sailboat docked at McCuddy's Landing Marina and sent two people to Portland-area hospitals.

One of the individuals sustained life-threatening injuries.

Scappoose Rural Fire District and Columbia River Fire and Rescue responded to the call at around 4 a.m., after one of the boat's occupants awoke surrounded by smoke and flames.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
