Kyle Anderegg wins in both Greco and freestyle events

Oregon City and Clackamas both had wrestlers earn titles at the recent State Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling Championships.

Clackamas freshman Kyle Anderegg dominated his competition, en route to winning a double crown in the Cadet Division. Wrestling at 195, Anderegg didn't lose a match en route to winning titles in both freestyle and Greco Roman. He beat all five of his opponents by fall in Greco Roman.

Oregon City had two wrestlers earn Greco Roman titles, junior Kyle Sether (120) in the Junior Division and sophomore Devin Poppen (113) in the Cadet Division.

Among the wrestlers Sether defeated was Henley junior Ronnie Bresser, who won a Greco Roman national title in 2011.

Sether also earned state runner-up honors in freestyle, as did Poppen.

Oregon City junior Parker Folliard (132) earned third place in the Junior Division in both freestyle and Greco.

Oregon City sophomore Gabe Ellicott (152) placed fifth in the Cadet Division in both Greco and freestyle.

Gladstone had a state runner-up in Greco Roman in sophomore Logan Good (145), who won second place at his weight in the Cadet Division.

Clackamas had two wrestlers earn state runner-up honors, freshman Austin Davis (182) in the Cadet Freestyle Division and senior Brandon Ferington (182) in the Junior Greco Division.

'Brandon was about 30 seconds from winning a state title,' said Clackamas coach Jayson Wullbrandt. 'He just got caught by a good kid.'

Clackamas senior Cam Henderson (138) made a successful run in state freestyle, winning six of nine matches en route to placing third in the Junior Division. Henderson also placed sixth in Greco Roman.

Other Clackamas wrestlers placing high in freestyle included: freshman Austin Brittle (106), third, and freshman Alex Foumal (113), fourth, in the Cadet Division; and junior Tyler Godfrey (195), fifth in the Junior Division.

Clackamas freshman Johnny Nguyen (120) placed fourth in the Cadet Division of Greco Roman.

Gladstone freshman Blake McNall (100) and Gladstone senior Connor Finch (120) both placed third in the Junior Division of Greco Roman, while Gladiator senior Nick Hernandez (182) placed sixth.

McNall and Finch placed third and fourth respectfully in freestyle. McNall also placed sixth in Cadet freestyle.

Kamari Blacksmith (144) of Gladstone placed third in Schoolboy Greco and fourth in Schoolboy freestyle.

Gladstone's Chandler Berks placed third in Novice freestyle and in Novice Greco.

The championships were held in late April at Pacific University.
