James and Eloise Caster to celebrate 70th anniversary
Family celebration planned at the coast
A family three-day weekend in a home at Gleneden will celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of James and Eloise Caster of Summerfield Retirement Estates.
All the Casters' children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be present.
James Caster and Eloise Pike eloped Aug. 24, 1941, and were married by a justice of the peace in Salome, Ariz. They then returned to their respective homes, keeping the marriage a secret for two weeks before telling anyone.
Mr. Caster retired as a supervisor from Western Electric. He is a World War II Navy veteran and a Mason.
Mrs. Caster is a retired tax assessor of Los Angeles County. She and her husband are both members of the First Presbyterian Church.
The honorees will be shown a DVD made of their old 8mm home movies.
The event is hosted by the couple's children, Dave and Susan Bailey of Lake Oswego, Ellen and Gerry Parker of La Verne, Calif., and James Caster of Sacramento, Calif.
There are 13 grandchildren and five grandchildren.
