Food cart competition coming to Troutdale

East Multnomah County's first-ever food cart competition is coming to Troutdale this summer.

The competition is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in the Keybank/ Home Depot parking lot at 25117 S.E. Stark St. Nine food carts will compete for the $500 People's Choice first prize.

The participating carts are Hungry Heart Cupcakes, Best Burger of Gresham, VooDoo Doughnuts, Taco Pedaler, Saucy's BBQ, PBJs Grilled, the Gaufre Gourmet, Fat Kitty Falafel and Absolutely Juicy mobile juice cart.

Admission to the event is free. Consumers can purchase food from any cart they wish and vote for their favorite cart. Someone will win a flat-screen television (donated by Best Buy in Gresham) just for voting for his or her favorite cart.

The event will include a raffle and silent auction for dozens of prizes including local wines, gift certificates, vacation getaways, golf packages and a motor scooter donated by Weston GMC.

Troutdale-based Adult Learning Systems of Oregon (ALSO) is hosting the competition as a fundraiser. ALSO is a nonprofit agency with a focus of providing residential and vocational services to individuals with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
