Bye bye, Birdie's
Multnomah Village gift shop will close next month
MULTNOMAH - After 11 years in Multnomah Village, Birdie's gift shop will close its doors on July 7.
Owner Annette Suchy said she's been mulling over the decision to retire for about a year, choosing to liquidate the business instead of sell it. She said it felt like the right time to move on.
'It's not a reflection on customers or the village,' she said, 'People have been supportive.'
Suchy, a neighborhood resident, said she opened her shop at 7847 S.W. Capitol Hwy. in 2000, offering party supplies, gifts, teas, cards, stationery, knick knacks and more.
'I tried to keep it fun and light, and that worked really well,' she said, especially among customers with a sense of humor.
She said owning the business has been both hard work and a fun experience and that she learned a lot by doing it.
Birdie's inventory will be available at discounted prices between now and its closing.
