TUMWATER, Wash. - The Portland Timbers U-23 team's perfect start came to an end in stoppage time Saturday.
Seattle Sounders FC U-23 forward Jamael Cox scored one minute into the extra time for a 1-0 victory that dropped the Timbers to 5-1 in Premier Development League play.
Seattle improved to 3-1-3.
Spencer Richey had two saves for Portland, which still leads the Northwest Division.
The Timbers outshot the Sounders 10-7 and had seven shots and eight corner kicks in the second half.
Next for the Portland squad are road games Wednesday and Saturday, both at 7 p.m. First comes a match with the Washington Crossfire at Redmond High. Then the Timbers visit the Kitsap Pumas at Bremerton Memorial Stadium.
