Police blow up tennis ball bomb at Arbor Lodge Park
Portland police's bomb squad destroyed a suspicious device found Thursday morning in North Portland's Arbor Lodge Park, 2700 N. Bryant St.
The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit was called at about 8:02 a.m. when someone found in the park a soda bottle wrapped in tape that appeared to have already exploded and two tennis balls wrapped in tape with an exposed wire.
A person who called 9-1-1 told police that one of the tennis balls appeared to have been exploded but the other was intact.
Bomb techs destroyed the tennis ball that had not been exploded. They also checked the park for additional bottle bombs or tennis ball devices.
No one was injured in the incident. Police do not have any suspects.
