Brooklyn once again has a furniture business at 3384 S.E. Milwaukie Avenue.
'Brooklyn Furniture Company' celebrated its grand opening in May, in the space formerly occupied by 'Chantiques'. Distinctive red and white chairs painted on the front showroom windows are representative of the custom furniture with modern styling offered by the business' owners - David Johnson and his partner, Mr. Braun.
The men share nearly twenty years of furniture-making experience between them. 'We have 4,000 square feet of open showroom here, and are converting the back thousand square feet into a wood shop,' reports Johnson. 'We're planning to make our own solid wood furniture here, to sell at affordable prices - all made from reclaimed, salvaged, and plantation-grown hardwoods.'
The business is open Monday through Saturday 11 am-7 pm, Sundays from noon to 4 pm. The men have been remodeling the interior to brighten the showroom, and to make space for incoming furniture designed for home and office.
They've already held several substantial sales to clear out old stock, and plan to offer more contemporary styled and artisan furniture created with such mixed media as metal and inlays. They also hope to assist clients design entire rooms and office spaces to customer specifications.
'We're open to both residential and commercial design projects,' says Braun. 'We'd like to build-to-order for our customers, and are willing to work with their design vision.'
Johnson adds, 'We currently offer all-hardwood furniture made from domestic and foreign sources, outdoor teak furniture, salvaged wood pieces, and some artisan-designed consignment pieces. Call us at 503/239-5064 for information, or check us out online at: www.brooklynfurnitureco.com .'
