Students compete for best sustainable product, idea
Competition takes place this week
Teams of students are spending the week of Aug. 15 to 19 in Portland trying to come up with the best idea for a sustainable product or innovation, at the 2011 IdeaLab Workshop.
Portland State University's School of Business Administration is working with the University of Portland and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance to host the entrepreneurial training and contest.
Cash awards will go towards development costs of the top student teams. Sustainability experts from the Portland area will assist the students and serve as judges to award the seed funding, with support from the Meyer Memorial Trust.
The hope is that some of the teams will work over the next year to bring their ideas to the marketplace.
Final presentation and judging takes place Friday, Aug. 19, at the Leftbank Annex in Portland, 101 N. Weidler Street, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Selected participants will move on to Lab2Market, on Aug. 31 to Sept.1, to cultivate their ideas.
