Update • Four people now charged in connection with fatal accident
Two more people have been arrested in the hit and run death of Nancy Schoeffler.
On Wednesday, investigators from the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division arrested Christopher Michael Rhea, 28, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of the 63-year-old Schoeffler on West Burnside Street on March 31.
Rhea is the boyfriend of Ashley Chavez, the suspected driver. She was arrested Friday on charges of killing Schoeffler. Rhea was with her at the time of her arrest in Bellingham, Wash. Chavez was detained and released at that time.
Chavez was arrested at his residence in Lake Oswego and was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence.
On Tuesday, investigators from the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division arrested Josh Chavez, 24, on Tuesday. He is the brother of Ashley Chavez, 23.
Josh Chavez was arrested at his home in Sherwood and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence. He was not in the car at the time of the accident.
Police previously arrested Angela Kaps-Collins, a suspected passenger in the car at the time of the accident. She is charged with tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution.
