Shuffle follows April decision to close two elementary schools
Oregon City School District Superintendent Larry Didway announced on Monday that Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences (CAIS) Principal Ginger Redlinger will become principal at John McLoughlin Elementary.
King Elementary Principal Kyle Laier has been named principal at CAIS, following the closure of King and Mt. Pleasant elementary schools this spring.
'Ginger Redlinger and Kyle Laier both have outstanding records as talented educational leaders,' Didway said.
Redlinger replacess Gary McCormick, who had served as interim principal at John McLoughlin Elementary since Carol Sanders was named director of school improvement in 2011. Redlinger has 20 years experience in education and has been with Oregon City for six years. She was previously the K-12 mathematics and engineering program specialist for the Oregon Department of Education. She has taught at many levels and has multiple passions she likes to share with students, including, reading, robotics, soccer, art and music.
'While I will miss the staff and students at CAIS, I am very excited about working with the John McLoughlin staff, students and their families,' said Redlinger.
Laier has been principal at King Elementary since 2008. Prior to that he was a social studies teacher at Ogden Middle School.
'Throughout my years with the district, I've had opportunities to influence our students and prepare them for the future,' Laier said.
