Les Schwab Tire Centers' Cruisin' Sherwood 2012, one of the region's most fun, down home, family-friendly car shows is set for Saturday. Spectators and car owners alike love Sherwood's quaint Old Town atmosphere, the perfect backdrop for viewing classic cars, hot rods, and all types of customized vehicles.

(See complete schedule below.)

This year, Cruisin' Sherwood adds entertainment featuring popular performer Kristy O, lead singer for the Nashville-based recording group Bomb Shel. 'Kristi Osmundson is a country western music star and she puts on a great show,' noted Sherwood Chamber of Commerce President Tim Heine. KristyO will perform three times at the Cruisin' Main Stage presented by Aesthetic Dentistry of Lake Oswego.

Cruisin' Sherwood attracts about 20,000 visitors and over 500 vehicles. Sponsors like Les Schwab Tires, The Bank of Oswego- Sherwood, and the Sherwood YMCA will be on hand, helping make the show 'something for everyone.'

Mark Stevenz, a top Elvis impersonator, will croon and gyrate for the Cruisin' crowd once again. Popular Oldies Radio 106.7 personality Scott Tom is the city's music broadcaster for the day, via a custom sound system providing the nostalgic background sounds.

While appreciating the show's Americana atmosphere, adults can enjoy an ice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon or Bridgeport IPA in The Bank of Oswego-Sherwood Beer Garden surrounded by the entertainment of the show.

For a break from the day's casual strolling around the great display cars, the Sherwood Cruisers Car Club stages the Les Schwab Tire Center tire smokin' Burn Out contest and the challenge of guessing how long an old engine will race before it 'blows.'

Once again, cars customized to run on volts-not gas-will be on display, along with military vehicles, both new and vintage.

Cruisin' hosts a range of unique product and services vendors for appetites of all sizes and interests. 'Sherwood's nearby shopping and Old Town's unique retailers and food opportunities will help keep car owners and visitors nourished and meet any shopping urges,' Heine said.

The Sherwood YMCA presents the Kids Zone-offering the littlest Cruisin' visitors a change of pace from viewing great cars-will include beloved Radio Disney stage entertainment, game booths, and activities throughout the day.

For the first time, Sherwood's new Cannery Plaza will be a Cruisin' focal point, as staging area for show car exhibitor check-in and the gathering site when the show's trophy winners are announced at end of show.

'Cruisin' appeals to families with children of all ages, grandparents and single adults, all seeking a laid back, safe and friendly day in a setting that reminds them of simpler times in America,' according to Heine.

The event opens Friday night with Friday Night Thunder, which opens with the McKenzie Pub Show-n-Shine at 5 p.m. The car club will lead group cruises through Sherwood every ten minutes starting at 6:30 until 8 p.m.
