Royal Black stays on track this summer
Royal Black, a junior-to-be at Southridge High School, has had quite a summer of success on the track.
Black placed first in the USATF Region 13 Junior Olympics Intermediate boys decathlon in Spokane, Wash., in early July, scoring 5909 points, a new PR, and also taking first in the open long jump at 22 feet, 1.75 inches to qualify for the USATF Junior Olympic National Championship Meet in Wichita, Kans.
There, Black was seventh overall with 5752 points. He also took 20th in the long jump at 20-7.75.
Tualatin Hills United Soccer Club launches new program
Tualatin Hill United Soccer Club will introduce a new player development program for the 2011-2012 soccer season.
The year-round training program will consist of team and individual skill development that focuses on both the physical and mental aspects of the game.
Further, the program adds positional training aimed at forwards during September, midfielders in Octover, and defenders in November.
