Juvenile bicyclist hit by car on Sandy Boulevard
A male juvenile bicyclist from Wood Village was hit by a car around 2:55 p.m. Thursday, June 7, in the 23500 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard in Wood Village.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said 55-year-old Celestino Nicolas Morales of Portland was traveling eastbound on Sandy Boulevard in a Kia Sportage when he struck the bicyclist, who rode off of the sidewalk and veered into the car's path.
The East County Vehicular Crimes Team responded and closed a section of Northeast Sandy Boulevard to investigate.
The juvenile bicyclist was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a bicycle helmet.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The traffic investigation is still open but investigators did not anticipate issuing any citations.
