Stafford teacher wins Education Celebration Award
A second-grade teacher from Stafford Primary School in West Linn was selected as the spring term recipient of the Education Celebration Award, presented by the Oregon College Savings Plan.
At an afternoon assembly in front of the entire student body, Jody Amri was surprised with a check for $1,500, and the school's principal, Jen Freeborn, was given a big check for $5,000 for the school.
Amri was selected from 167 nominations from around the state.
The Oregon College Savings Plan presents the Education Celebration Award to an educator in the Oregon K-12 educational system who has motivated and inspired children to be better students. The program recognizes three teachers each academic year, giving away a total of $15,000 in donations to three schools, plus another $5,500 to the teachers.
