TRACKTOWN RELAYS SET
Youth runners throughout Oregon are invited to compete at historic Hayward Field in a statewide high school marathon relay at 5:30 p.m. June 21 as part of TrackTown12.
With the goal of challenging the current men's and women's world marathon records, incoming high school freshman through graduated seniors are eligible to form six-person teams to compete.
The TrackTown Relay consists of 25 one-mile legs and a final 1.2-mile leg. Following the final competition, members of all teams will participate in the TrackTown12 opening day ceremonies and attend the first day of the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 22.
Teams are invited to register for free by Monday on the TrackTown Relay Facebook page, facebook.com/TrackTownRelay.
TREVINO JOINS CHALLENGE
The Umpqua Bank Challenge announced Monday that World Golf Hall of Fame member Lee Trevino, University of Oregon men's golf coach Casey Martin, and two-time World Long Drive Champion Jamie Sadlowski will fill the final spots in the main field of the upcoming event, set for Aug. 26-28 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha.
Tickets for the 2012 Umpqua Bank Challenge go on sale Monday and are available online at www.umpquabankchallenge.com or at a participating Umpqua Bank store.
FREE JUNIOR GOLF
The OGA Golf Course in Woodburn announced in May that it will offer free golf for Juniors every evening from June through August.
Under the new program, players 17 and younger can play for free after 5:30 p.m. during June, July and August. Each player must have their own set of clubs and proper attire is required. Juniors 12 and under must be supervised.
