Local boutique holds donation drive

West Linn locals looking to create a little good karma this weekend can help women in need by donating to Ego Accessories' accessory drive.

The event benefits Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that helps clothe unemployed women and give them the skill sets they need to ace an interview and land a job.

Ego Accessories' owner Pam Pesetti encourages local residents with gently used accessories such as jewelry, scarves, shoes and handbags collecting dust in their closets to drop them off at her store, located at 21900 Willamette Drive in West Linn, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is Ego Accessories' second year of business and its second year hosting the drive.

Pesetti said she chose to focus on donating accessories, her shop's specialty, because the organization already receives donations of a variety of suits and often needs more to complete the outfits it provides.

'It's nice to complete the full look,' Pesetti said.

She said donations should be appropriate for an interview setting, instead of, for example, leopard print, and should be fairly current fashion-wise.

'So many of us, myself included, have so much in our closets that I don't wear, and (when it comes to the donation drive) I think of someone can really use it to make them feel better about themselves during an interview,' Pesetti said. 'I think it's a great organization.'
