Gresham resident Timothy J. Benz, 30, was arrested after the Hillsboro International Air Show at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, when he used a full roof light bar, strobe lighting and siren on his blue 1999 Ford Ranger pickup to move through slow traffic.
The pickup drove northbound through a red light at the intersection of Cornelius Pass Road and Cornell Road and almost collided with at least two vehicles. He told police that he worked for a private flagging and traffic safety company and was driving to traffic crashes on Portland-area bridges, a claim which police discovered to be false.
Benz was arrested on charges of reckless driving and two counts of recklessly endangering another person. He was also lodged in the Washington County Jail for probation violation.
Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call Senior Trooper Mark McDougal at 503-647-7631, ext. 443.
