Next week's July 4 holiday will translate into an early deadline for opinion pieces in the July 5 West Linn Tidings.

Normally, the opinion section's deadline is 3 p.m. every Monday.

However, with the holiday affecting newspaper employees and the staff at the Eagle Web Press in Salem where the Tidings is printed, our opinion deadline will move up one full business day.

That means, in order to have your opinion piece appear in the July 5 newspaper, you need to submit it no later than 3 p.m. Friday, June 29.

We prefer receiving opinions pieces via email. All items should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If possible, submit your opinion piece as an attachment in Microsoft Word or directly embed it into the body of an email. If you are using regular mail, send it to West Linn Tidings Opinion, P.O. Box 548, Lake Oswego, OR 97034; if you are dropping it off at our office, we are located at 400 Second St., in downtown Lake Oswego.

Be sure to include your full name, address and phone number.

Writers are limited to one opinion piece per calendar month. Word limits are:

- Letters to the editor: 300 words
