Burgerville, Pamplin Media Group team up to note inspirational community members

Do you know someone who makes your community a better place to live? How about a person who always goes out of their way to help others? Maybe you know a local service club that recently completed a project that supports a person, a family, a neighborhood or a community. Maybe it's a class that rallied together to support a project that makes the world a better place to live.

All the above are examples of what both Burgerville and the Pamplin Media Group hope to shine a light on with a new program they are launching called "Local Heroes."

Burgerville and the Pamplin Media Group believe in strong local communities. That's why the two companies are partnering together to recognize local people who strive to make a difference in their communities - people who inspire, give of themselves and are committed to service to others.

"We want to find and recognize individuals and groups who are making our communities better places to live," Burgerville Chief Cultural Officer Jack Graves said. "Those currently unsung heroes who act out of the sheer goodness of their hearts and are giving of their time and efforts on a regular basis with no expectation of acknowledgement."

If you know of such a person, a group, a school class, a community service club or an organization that is a local hero, nominate them by going to this newspaper's website and clicking on the "Local Heroes" link. You can also go there directly by going to

Local Heroes will be recognized each month through the Pamplin Media Group and Burgerville Restaurants. Those willing to nominate a local hero will also be rewarded with a gesture of appreciation from Burgerville, so nominate a local hero today.
