Clackamas High graduates Sarah Bigej, Sam Gutwig and Jen Behunin all played a role, as the Metro All-Stars swept the State All-Stars in the 2012 Oregon 6A High School Softball State/Metro Senior All-Star Series, played June 18 at Rosemont Ridge Middle School.
Gutwig pitched in the first game, an 11-3 victory, striking out two, walking three and scattering six hits, while allowing just two earned runs.
Gutwig also went 2-for-4 with her bat, singling in a run that put Metro up 6-2 after 2-1/2 innings of play. And Gutwig scored a run in the fourth inning, reaching on a fielder's choice, advancing on a passed ball and a wild pitch, and scoring on a base hit.
Bigej (1-for-2) scored Metro's first run in the 11-3 win, leading off the game with a walk, advancing to second when a teammate was hit by a pitch, stealing third, and scoring on a sacrifice fly.
Metro won the nightcap 10-6, and Behunin (1-for-3) played a big role on offense in that game. She played a part in four runs in a six-run first inning, scoring three runs when she reached on an infield error, and scoring on a base hit by a teammate.
Behunin also had a RBI-double in the bottom of the second inning that made it a 7-3 ball game.
