The roundabouts north of Cornelius were the scene of a fertilizer spill Saturday after a semi-truck toppled.

Cornelius firefighters responded to the accident, and found the driver unharmed.

According to Matt Johnston, a spokesman for Cornelius Fire, the truck toppled in the roundabout at the intersection of N.W. Cornelius Schefflin and N.W. Verboort Roads after the load shifted in the truck, sending white, powdery fertilizer into the roadway.

Workers from the trucking company were able to gather up the fertilizer, but the roundabout was closed to traffic for over an hour during the clean up.
