Sandy Music Fair and Feast is sponsored by Les Schwab Tire Center and is the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce's biggest event of the year.

"It's a great opportunity to get together and visit," says Kristy Wheeler, the event organizer of four years.

Though the event has transferred leadership through the years, it was inaugurated by the chamber during the early mountain festival years and has continued in various iterations as a popular yearly event since the 1970s.

The celebration kicks off with family night 5-11 p.m. Thursday, July 12, and features live music from Dirt Farm Cowboys, a local band. Families are encouraged to visit Centennial Plaza after the Sandy Mountain Festival parade, where they can enjoy food, cold beverages, music, games and prizes.

From 2-4 p.m. Friday, July 13, talent acts will take the stage for a junior talent show, complete with cake and ice cream and a grand prize of a savings bond. The talent show deadline has been extended to July 10, with an application fee of $10.

Participants will be judged on originality, technical ability, costumes and stage presence, with only one act per person. Age groups run 6-10 years old, 11-14 years old and 15-18 years old.

Application forms are available at Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce, 38963 Pioneer Blvd., Sandy, and may be dropped at the office or mailed to Sandy Area Chamber, P.O. Box 536, Sandy.

Once 6 p.m. July 13 arrives, the beer and wine garden and margarita booth will be open to the 21 and older crowd only, along with food concessions and main stage entertainment by Rae Gordon Band and Muchmore Country. The event ends at 12:30 a.m.

The beer garden and concession vendors open at noon Saturday, July 14, with live music at 3 p.m. by Joyful Noyes. The event again switches to 21 and older at 6 p.m. and ends at 12:30 a.m., with the beer and wine garden, margarita booth and live country music from Sammy Steele Band and Crush.
