History Day and Open House at Cloud Cap-Tilly Jane Historic District - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Cloud Cap-Tilly Jane Historic District, south of Hood River by Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. The Mt. Hood National Forest invites people to tour some of the oldest structures on Mount Hood - Cloud Cap Inn, Tilly Jane Guard Station and A-Frame and the Oregon Snow Shoe Club Building - which date back to 1889. The first tour begins at 10 a.m. and the last tour begins at 1:45 p.m. Attendees can bring a picnic lunch. Dogs are not allowed indoors and must be kept on a leash outside. History Pub: 'Finding Frémont in Oregon 1843' - 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, McMenamins Edgefield, Power Station Theatre, 2126 S.W. Halsey St., Troutdale. In winter 1843, Brevet Lt. John C. Frémont led an expedition of 27 men south of the Columbia River and into unmapped portions of Oregon. Retracing Frémont's steps, photographer Loren Irving spent nearly a year photographing all 31 of Frémont's campsites in Oregon. Through the words of the expedition's journals, stunning photography and original music, this 30-minute documentary chronicles Frémont's expedition as it moved through Oregon and into history. Zimmerman Heritage Farm and Heslin House Museum - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays in August at Heslin House, 60 Main St., Fairview; and the Zimmerman Heritage Farm, 17111 N.E. Sandy Blvd. Explore two historic homes that are complete with furnishings, photos, exhibits and more. The Heslin House tour includes a visit to the historic Fairview City Jail and an exhibit of historic dolls from a recent donation. Admission is free to either museum, with a requested donation.
