ShoeString Players celebrate 30 years

July performances showcase showstoppers from theater group’s history

The ShoeString Community Players will celebrate 30 years of community theater productions this month with six special performances leading the audience on a walk down memory lane.

The "A Shoebox of Memories" music revue will feature both solo and chorus performances from musicals the nonprofit group has put on over its 30 year existence, starting with Brigadoon in 1982. Last summer it put on a version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Original cast members from productions like those will stand side by side with newer ShoeString players.

There are three shows each in both the Scappoose High School Auditorium and in St. Helens High School's Olmscheid Auditorium. The Scappoose shows will run the weekend of July 13 and the St. Helens performances will take place the weekend of July 19. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. July 14 matinee in Scappoose.
