Letter to the Editor

The June 2012 issue of SW Connection carried a well-detailed article, "City officials: Sunset sidewalk to go on library side of street." I was disappointed, however, in the reporter's bias that he displayed. He says near the beginning of the article that the citizens attending the May 1 PBOT meeting "were nearly evenly split" on the location of the sidewalk but then ends his article by quoting three people who are opposed and none in support. This undermines what he says happened at the meeting and turns an unbiased article into a slanted one. It appears to be an attempt to influence people that there is more opposition than support on where the sidewalk will be built. I hope that he would be more even handed the next time he reports on controversial items.
