An 85-year-old Forest Grove man was rescued from his wrecked car Thursday after it fell down an embankment alongside Highway 6 about a half-mile east of Brown's Camp.

Rescue workers were called to the area around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 when a driver noticed a cloud of dust and skid marks.

That led police to search the nearby area and find Peter Rowan trapped in his crumpled Toyota.

Rowan's car slid off the highway after he overcorrected while negotiating a turn. Police say his car fell 120 feet before stopping.

Firefighters carried Rowan up the slope and he was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Emanuel Medical Center.
