Drivers beware: road work north of Sandy

Area residents who regularly drive near Bull Run and Water Works roads should consider an alternate route for this week and possibly part of next week.

The work was scheduled to start during this week and will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday for about five days. Traffic will experience minor impacts, while the Portland Water Bureau removes a portion of the earthen embankment.

Summer Sounds are on the way to Meinig Park

The Sandy Summer Sounds and Starlight Cinema are scheduled at Meinig Park on two stages: Theater in the Woods and the Dale Nicholls Main Stage.

The Theater in the Woods, with bench seating available, has planned activities that will interest lots of local residents. Included are “Wine in the Woods,” with live music groups from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, July 22; and several Sunday concerts in July and August.

On the Dale Nicholls Main Stage, which might require a blanket or lawn chair, the Brewgrass Festival is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1.

The following week, “Fiesta en Meinig” will fill the park with Latin culture, followed with concerts on the rest of August’s Wednesdays.

On Saturdays from July 28 to Aug. 25, the Dale Nicholls Main Stage is the site of the annual Starlight Cinema movies. Included are “Rango,” “The Muppets,” “Dolphin Tale,” “Hugo” and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”
