Their children hosted the event
George and Faye Swett (whose maiden name was Tasker), celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a luncheon at Tualatin Country Club Sunday, Aug. 7.
They were married Aug. 5, 1961, in St. Athanasius Church in Rumford, Maine.
Hosting the anniversary celebration were their children, Greg Swett of Beaverton and Sharon Otness of Tigard.
In addition to the family members, attending the celebration were friends Mariena and Denis Renaud, whom the Swetts met in Beaverton in 1967, when they moved to Oregon and were neighbors in a complex on Butner Road.
Mr. Swett was manager of projects at Metso Paper before retiring.
He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he is an officer with the local church affiliate.
Mr. and Mrs. Swett, who live in Salem, attend the Queen of Peace Church, where Mrs. Swett is a member of the church's Care Ministry and a volunteer in several capacities.
They have four grandchildren.
