Local veterinary clinic employs new technology

Paws and Claws Pet Medical Center in Troutdale has implemented a new electronic medical records system, allowing staff members immediate access to a patient’s medical information anywhere in the clinic.

The new system utilizes a digital file system that now includes storage of X-ray images and other diagnostic reports. Software also enables the clinic to email copies of an animal’s records to a veterinary specialist or the pet’s owner.

“Our primary goal is always to provide the best possible veterinary care for our pet patients and their owners,” said Dr. Ken DeRemer. “Digital record keeping will streamline our appointment and examination process, ensuring that our team has instant access to a pet’s medical history, diagnostic exams and X-rays.”

The move to digital filing, DeRemer added, also complies with the clinic’s efforts to be more environmentally conscious by reducing the amount of paper used by staff members.

Paws and Claws Medical Center provides veterinary care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and exotic pets. The practice also offers pet dental care, cat and dog surgery and urgent care.
