Florence Marie Lefever

Aug. 29, 1936-July 12, 2012

Former Gresham businesswoman Florence Marie Lefever died Thursday, July 12, at Providence Portland Medical Center. She was 75.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Sandy Seventh-day Adventist Church, 18575 S.E. Langensand Road, Sandy. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Springfield.

Florence was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Riverside, Calif., to Harry and Juanita (Hamlet) Harper. The family moved to the Portland area in 1940. Florence attended Carver Grade School and then Portland Union Academy. She studied nursing for two years at Walla Walla College in College Place, Wash.

On Aug. 2, 1957, Florence married William Lefever. Due to Bill’s employment, the family resided in various areas on the West Coast. They settled in Oregon and made their home in Sandy.

Florence pursued her career in the health care industry and worked as a health clinic office manager. In the mid-1980s, Florence took an early retirement because of health issues, and for the next few years she owned and operated Lefever Ceramic & Gifts in Gresham. For the last 21 years, Florence and Bill resided in Oregon City.

Florence enjoyed camping, traveling, quilting, gardening, parenting, being a loving grandmother and especially helping others.

Her two oldest daughters, Debbie and Laurie, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband; son, Bill Lefever of Renton, Wash.; daughter, Rebecca Fabian of Sandy; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert W. Kiesel

Jan. 27, 1922-Aug. 3, 2012

East County resident Robert W. Kiesel died Friday, Aug. 3, in Portland. He was 90.

Viewing hours will run from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave. A committal service will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 9, at Mountain View Cemetery in Corbett, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Greater Portland Baptist Church, 17800 S.E. Main St., Portland.

Bob was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Corbett to Frederick and Hattie (Graham) Kiesel. He began his education in Corbett and graduated from Benson Tech. After graduating, Bob worked in Alaska briefly and as World War II approached he joined the Army Air Corps. During his tour of duty from 1942 until 1948, Bob became a pilot. He was stationed in Japan and China, flying cargo planes into Southeast Asia, Korea and Singapore. He also flew AT-6s, C-46, C-47 and C-54 cargo planes and B-25 bombers, AT-6 Fighter Trainers and CG-18 Gliders.

After his honorable discharge with the rank of captain, Bob married Wanda Lasseter in 1949 in Lindsay, Calif. After their marriage, they remained in California, where Bob owned and operated EdCo Masonry in Porterville, Calif., from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. He then sold the business and returned to Oregon.

Bob met a friend from high school who owned Kaso Plastics Company in Corbett. He joined as a partner in 1967. He later worked as a truck driver and retired in 1986 from the Corbett School District as director of transportation. Bob then helped at his son’s transmission company as needed.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife in 2009 and by his son, Ron, in 1975.

Survivors include his children, Karen Duley of Gresham and Steven Kiesel of Corbett; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Timothy C. Parker

July 30, 1957-July 17, 2012

Gresham resident Timothy C. Parker died Tuesday, July 17, in Vancouver, Wash. He was 54.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Sternwheeler Park in La Center, Wash.

Juanita Moffet Harvey

April 7, 1919-Aug. 2, 2012

Gresham resident Juanita Moffet Harvey died Thursday, Aug. 2. She was 93.

No public services will be held.

Juanita was born April 7, 1919, in Dustin, Okla., to Zack and Bessie (Hall) Boggs. Juanita went to school in Billings, Mont.

In 1936, she married Willis Moffet in Seattle. He died in 1978. In 1997, she married Gordon Harvey in Reno, Nev. He died in 2003.

Juanita worked as a welder during World War II. She was a baker for the Aero Club for 30 years and worked in the cafeteria for the Reynolds School District until she was 72. She resided in Gresham since 1942.

Juanita attended Sanctuary Church (Gresham Free Methodist Church). Her hobbies included sewing and cooking.

Juanita was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis Harvey and Billie Knoetzel.

Survivors include her son, Robert Moffet of Troutdale; daughter, Janet Aronson of Boring; 11 grandchildren; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Donations may be given to the Sanctuary Church building fund, 3101 S.E. Orient Drive, Gresham, 97080.
