Measure 3-401 is bad for county

I know everyone is thinking November for elections this year. But here in Clackamas County we have to get informed and vote no on Measure 3-401 on Sept. 18.

This unbelievable attempt to undermine our representative form of government would be a disaster.

Some anti-rail folks are mad that the county is dedicating $25 million in the next 20 years to connect light rail to Milwaukie/Oak Grove.

Keep in mind that in 2012-13 alone, the county budget spends $22 million on the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District.

So, they have come up with a punishment. They can’t stop the $25 million; it has already been approved.

But what Measure 3-401 does is require a countywide vote for every dime spent on light rail by the county commissioners. Even repairs on existing lines would be held up for costly countywide votes.

This special election is costing taxpayers $125,000 because these people think it might pass easier than in November.

Please get the facts and vote no on Measure 3-401.
