I also wanted to remind everyone that now that school will be starting to slow down when driving through school zones and watch for pedestrian traffic.
Fill the boot
The International Association of Fire Fighters has been a major contributor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for more than 50 years through the annual "Fill the Boot" campaign.
And King City firefighters joined other TVF and R firefighters on the streets again this year to raise awareness and funds for MDA.
Firefighters and friends were out in intersections Aug. 12 and 13 and 19 and 20, asking passing motorists to drop a donation into their fire boots.
All proceeds go directly to the MDA, and the money that was collected goes to finding a cure for the disease as well as for medical treatment, equipment and summer camps.
Acting as volunteer counselors for the kids, firefighters are also instrumental at MDA summer camps throughout the United States every year.
Last year, TVF and R firefighters raised approximately $50,000 during their "Fill the Boot" campaign, and that was the goal again this year.
Firefighters want to say thank you to everyone who supported and donated to this great cause.
National Night Out
The summer months seem to bring families and neighbors together with parties and BBQs, and this was especially true Aug. 2.
That is when National Night Out kept the crew from King City Station 35 busy attending multiple neighborhood gatherings that occurred in the King City, Summerfield and Bull Mountain areas.
This was a fun and interactive way for residents to meet the firefighters and see a fire engine up close.
