SHERWOOD - The defending Class 5A state champion Sherwood High School football team will be holding its Red/White Scrimmage Friday night at the school's Aaron J. Contreras Memorial Stadium.
According to Sherwood head coach Greg Lawrence, this year's scrimmage will be geared more toward showcasing the Bowmen football program for the community.
'We're excited about how this year's team looks,' Lawrence said. 'We're really looking forward to this season and I think the new way we're doing the scrimmage this year will give everyone a chance to get a sneak peek at what we have in store for our opponents.'
Friday's event will start with the freshman team scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. The junior varsity scrimmage will follow at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity team scrimmage will begin at 7:30 p.m.
There is no admission charge to attend the event and there will also be food and drink vendors present throughout the evening.
Due to continued budget cuts, the Sherwood High School football program relies heavily on fundraising, donations and support from both the community and Sherwood Booster Club.
