A 63-year-old Gresham man is behind bars on allegations that he sodomized a former girlfriend.
Thomas Lee Carter Jr. is being held on $254,000 bail at the Multnomah County Detention Center on allegations of first-degree sodomy, harassment and interfering with making a police report.
The victim called police at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, and reported that she'd spent the night at Carter's apartment in the 19200 block of Southeast Yamhill Street after leaving a bar highly intoxicated with Carter, who is her former boyfriend, said Sgt. Wally Coon, Gresham police spokesman.
She reported passing out in the apartment at about 3:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26. When she woke up, she found that Carter had removed her clothes and was sodomizing her as he masturbated, Coon said.
The woman slapped Carter and ran to call police. But the phone was dead and Carter would not give her the charger, so she decided to leave the apartment to call police. Carter reportedly blocked her from leaving and punched her in the face.
Eventually, an acquaintance arrived and helped the woman contact police.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Gresham Police Department at 503-618-2318.
