Registration for park district's fall classes under way
Online and phone registration for the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District's fall classes and programs for out-of-district residents began Friday, Aug. 26, at 8:30 a.m.
Those who have paid an assessment fee ($70 quarterly) may register by phone, fax, Internet, mail or walk-in starting that day.
Registration was opened to in-district residents on Aug. 20, three weeks earlier than previous years.
'Earlier registration will enable us to start fall classes earlier (Sept. 12), therefore shortening the break between our summer and fall terms,' said Sharon Hoffmeister, district superintendent of aquatics and registration coordinator. 'When we surveyed our patrons, that's what they told us they want.'
The change also allows the district to extend its classes by one week.
Patrons registering by computer for the first time must establish an online account in advance at thprd.org/activities. Those registering by phone simply need to call 503-439-9400.
THPRD will again offer, on a limited basis, Spanish language assistance during phone-in registration for classes and programs.
All residents registering by phone must have class information handy, along with credit card or debit information (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or THPRD gift card) and a valid THPRD residency card. A resident may register only for his or her own immediate family. Those with questions in advance should call 503-645-6433.
Class registration instructions and forms are in the district's Fall 2011 Activities Guide, which is available online at www.thprd.org. Printed copies of the guide can be picked up at any THPRD center or the Administration Office at 158th and Walker Road.
The printed guide is also available at Beaverton-area libraries, the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, Beaverton City Hall, Washington County Visitors Association, and the Beaverton School District Administration Center.
