Tualatin fire displaces family of five
A family of five was displaced Sunday evening after a fire caused nearly $50,000 worth of damage to a Tualatin home.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue officials say that a man and his young son were home when they heard crackling sounds near the carport of their rental home in the 20000 block of Southwest 120th Avenue. They discovered the carport was engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to the attic.
Firefighters from TVF and R and the Lake Oswego Fire Department extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes before it spread to nearby buildings.
No one was injured and the American Red Cross is offering assistance to the family.
Fire investigators have not been able to determine a cause for the fire despite having spent a considerable amount of time processing material evidence, officials say.
