Two hurt in NW Portland traffic accident

Truck driver cited for hitting SUV and bicyclist

A bicyclist and an SUV driver were hurt in a collision with a large oil truck Tuesday morning in Northwest Portland.

Both the bicyclist, 39-year-old Tobias Boyd, and the SUV driver, 28-year-old Meghan Erickson, were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the oil truck, 28-year-old Bryan Bruner, was issued a citation for failure to obey a traffic control device.

According to Portland police, at 8:09 a.m., officers assigned to Central Precinct and the Traffic Division responded to the report of a traffic crash at Northwest 21st Avenue and Wilson Street.

When the officers arrived, they learned that an oil truck was traveling east on Wilson Street and ran through a stop sign at 21st Avenue. The truck struck a Honda CRV that was traveling north on 21st. After striking the Honda, the oil truck veered to the left and struck a man standing with his bicycle on the Northeast corner of 21st and Wilson.
