Zupan Foundation. The month will feature donation opportunities to support trauma services at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

The campaign will run through Sept. 30, concluding with a golf tournament on Oct. 5 at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club. Zupan’s Markets anticipates this will become an annual event.

All funds raised will go toward Legacy Emanuel’s critical care expansion which includes a 12-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, hybrid operating room, Emergency Department Observation Unit and development of a larger adult Emergency Department.

Donations will be accepted at all four Zupan’s Markets locations throughout the Portland area: West Burnside Street, Southeast Belmont Street, Southwest Macadam Avenue and Lake Grove. The John J. Zupan Foundation was created in response to the support and treatment founder John Zupan received after a car struck him in August 2011.

When Zupan arrived at Legacy Emanuel in critical condition, a trauma team of surgeons, nurses and staff members allowed him to spend his last moments surrounded by family and friends. The Zupan family established the John J. Zupan Foundation to ensure that others are able to receive the same extraordinary service and care from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.

“My father’s presence is missed greatly, but his legacy lives on within the community he worked to serve,” Zupan’s Markets President Mike Zupan said. “Providing Legacy Emanuel’s Trauma Center with the resources and tools they need to continue their efforts among our neighbors is the best way we can honor his memory.”
