Tickets are available for the series as well as individual concerts by calling 503-654-0082.Portland Classic Guitar will begin its 2012-13 concert series with the return of Croatian guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic at Marylhurst University’s St. Anne’s Chapel at 8 p.m. on Sept. 21. Vidovic will hold a master class in the university’s Wiegand Hall at 11 a.m. on Sept. 22.

Now in its eighth year, the PCG concert series runs from September through June 2013 and features 10 concerts of some of the world’s most celebrated internationally acclaimed classical guitarists.

Each concert provides an opportunity for area music fans to experience world-renowned concert artists — many of whom rarely travel to Portland or even the United States — in one of three settings. PCG Proprietor William Jenks schedules master classes to accompany the concerts.

Tickets to Vidovic’s concert on Sept. 21 range in price from $30 to $49 and can be purchased online at or by calling 503-654-0082. Season tickets for the remaining concerts are also available.

The series will also include these concerts:

n Spanish guitarist Rafael Aguirre on Oct. 19 in Marylhurst University’s Wiegand Hall.

n Peruvian guitarist Alfredo Muro, who will be joined by Victor Villadangos of Argentina on Nov. 3 at the First Congregational Church in downtown Portland.

n American guitarist Zachary Johnson will make his Portland debut on Dec. 14 in Wiegand Hall.

n Vladimir Gorbach of Russia will perform Jan. 11 in Wiegand Hall. He is the most recent prizewinner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of American Competition.

n Jason Vieaux, whom the “New York Times” calls “one of the youngest stars of the guitar world,” will perform on Feb. 15 in St. Anne’s Chapel at Marylhurst .

n Brazilian guitarist Roberto Capocchi will perform in Wiegand Hall on March 8. He has performed throughout his native Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Canada and Belgium.

n Pepe Romero, one of the world’s most celebrated guitarists will perform on April 26 at the First Congregational Church.

n Performing May 10 will be Italian guitarist Flavio Cucchi, making his Portland debut at Wiegand Hall. He is considered to be one of the most interesting European guitarists on the international scene.

n The final concert in the series will feature guitarist Jonathan Leathwood performing on six-string and 10-string guitars, mixing modern and traditional works in his innovative programs. The concert will be held June 14.

Vidovic, Aguirre, Vieaux, Capocchi, Romero and Leathwood will hold master classes.
