Hawks run well at Tualatin Invitational

by: DAN BROOD - HAWK ON THE RUN -- Horizon Christian sophomore Sam Davies picks up the pace at the Tualatin Invitational.The Horizon Christian cross country teams had some strong runs at the Tualatin Invitational, held Sept. 5 at Tualatin High School.

Horizon Christian sophomore Sam Davies ran to 37th place in the 5,000-meter varsity boys race in a time of 19 minutes, 7 seconds.

Also in that race, Hawk sophomore Nathan McGill was 38th at 19:14 and junior Blake Phillips was 46th at 20:22.

In the 3,400-meter junior varsity coed race, Horizon Christian sophomore Mitchell Sheldon was eighth at 14:04. Junior Ben McMonagle was 22nd at 15:41 and senior Katie Schifferdecker was 44th at 17:44.

The Horizon Christian teams will be back in action Saturday when they run at the New Balance Festival of Champions, set to start at 10 a.m. at Clackamas Community College.
