Passing game unstoppable in Raiders blowout

Reynolds QB Josh Schleining hits for five TDs in the teams 56-14 win over McKay

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Reynolds QB Josh Schleining drops back and tosses toward the end zone Friday night. Kanyon Flynn was on the other end of this throw for a quick 14-0 lead.

TROUTDALE — Reynolds revved its engine on the opening drive Friday and McKay was powerless to stop it all night during the Raiders 56-14 blowout win.

Reynolds QB Josh Schleining started his night with a dart through the middle of the field that hit Gabe Chavez for a 25-yard pickup.

A few plays later, the duo hooked up again — this time in the end zone.

Schleining looped a perfect pass over the helmet of a McKay defender, allowing Chavez to reach up and pull it down with both hands for a 7-0 lead.

The Raiders needed little more than a minute to pick up their first score.

The quick strikes kept coming for the Raiders, who scored on their first six possessions before mercifully taking a knee at midfield with 0:25 to play in the first half.

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Reynolds receiver Quentin Bates knocks over McKays Armando Guevara for a big pick-up in the second quarter Friday night.

Schleining completed 12 of 14 passes for 233 yards and four TDs before hitting the locker room. One of those misfires came on a dropped ball in the end zone.

It was more of the same to start the second half, as Reynolds needed little more than two minutes to find the end zone. Schleining connected on all four passes in the drive, finishing with a quick ball in the flat to running back Demontrial Spinks, who cut back through the middle of the field 16 yards for the touchdown.

“The offense was hitting everything, but we knew we needed to come out and keep it going in the second half,” Schleining said.
