Police investigate non-injury gang shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in Portland’s Wilkes area involving a shooting at an apartment where nobody was hit.

At 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Zachary Park Apartments at Northeast 162nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, Portland Police spokesman.

Officers, including those with the Gang Enforcement Team, found several bullet holes on the outside of an apartment.

The four females and infant inside at the time of the shooting were not injured. Witnesses reported seeing four men running from the scene after the shooting, Simpson said.

Investigators suspect the shooter may have been targeting a man with gang ties who lives in the apartment, but who was not home at the time of the shooting.
