Hit-and-run driver turns himself into police

HuthmacherThe driver who hit a 26-year-old Tigard man early Sunday morning near Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway turned himself into Beaverton Police Tuesday morning.

Alan Huthmacher, 21, was lodged in the Washington County Jail on charges of failure to perform the duties of a driver to an injured person and third-degree assault.

Police say Soongkoon Hong of Tigard was leaving Koreana Restaurant, 9955 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, at about 1:48 a.m. Sunday, when he got into an argument with Huthmacher.

The two got into their vehicles and drove off, but stopped in the adjoining Portland Music Company parking lot, where the altercation continued.

Police said Hong approached Huthmacher’s vehicle and allegedly ripped out its front grill.

Huthmacher then reportedly pressed the accelerator pedal and struck Hong, who fell onto the car’s hood.

The car then struck another parked car, throwing Hong onto the ground, where he struck his head.

Huthmacher then reportedly fled the scene.

Hong was transported to a local hospital and received several stitches to the back of his head.

The car that struck Hong was described as a 2001 white Mercedes C24 with an Oregon license plate 575FRY and would likely have front-end damage.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Beaverton Police at 503-629-0111.
