Police arrest suspected serial burglar, 18
Victims allegedly targeted in Tanasbourne area
Hillsboro police have arrested a suspected serial burglar and his alleged accomplice.
Hillsboro resident Johnathan Gottschalk, 18, is charged with one count of Burglary. He is suspected of numerous residential burglaries in the Tanasbourne area over the past three months and other charges may be filed.
Hillsboro resident Eli Reyes, 18, is also charged with one count of Burglary.
Both Goittschalk and Reyes are lodged in the Washington County Jail.
The Hillsboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested both men at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, for committing a residential burglary on Inverness Drive in Hillsboro. The arrests were the results of an investigation by patrol officers and detectives that began after apartment burglaries began in July 2012 in the Tanasbourne area.
After obtaining investigative leads from the Beaverton Police Department and the Hillsboro
Police Department's crime analyst, detectives focused their efforts on Gottschalk. After surveillance, detectives established probable cause to arrest Gottschalk after the Inverness Drive burglary.
Detectives detained Gottschalk and Reyes near the Inverness Drive address. The case remains under investigation.
