Horizon Christian gets big win in WVL opener

The Hawks roll to a 52-14 victory over Amity

TUALATIN — To say the Horizon Christian High School football team was efficient in its latest victory just might be an understatement.

The Hawks had just 38 offensive plays in their game with Amity on Friday, but they turned those plays into 460 yards of total offense and 52 points as they rolled to a 52-14 win over the Warriors in a West Valley League opener played at Horizon Christian High School.

Amity dropped to 2-2 on the season with the setback. Horizon Christian upped its overall record to 2-1 with the victory.

Senior running back Taylor Grimmett had a big game in the win over Amity. Grimmett rushed for 109 yards on just six carries while also having touchdown runs of 40 and 46 yards. In addition, he had four receptions for 50 yards and he also booted a 41-yard field goal.

Meanwhile, Horizon Christian senior quarterback Wyatt Houston and senior receiver Zack Selland continued their potent passing combination.

Houston completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 321 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 26 yards and a score. Selland had three touchdown receptions while having six total catches for 206 yards.

Junior receiver Parker Belan had two catches for 33 yards and a touchdown.

The Hawks will be back in action Friday when they travel to Colton for a West Valley League game starting at 7 p.m. Colton is 4-0 on the season and the Vikings opened WVL play last Friday with a 37-7 win over Gervais.
