CANDIDATE FORUM — The Palisades Neighborhood Association is sponsoring an “Ask the Candidate” event at 7 p.m. today.

All candidates for mayor and city council have been invited and plan to attend, according to the neighborhood association.

Each will have two minutes to present an opening statement.

The neighborhood board and audience will then ask questions.

The event will take place at Lakeridge High School, 1235 Overlook Drive.

ANOTHER FORUM — The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast forum for city councilor and mayor candidates at 7 a.m. Oct. 4 at Oswego Lake Country Club, 20 Iron Mountain Blvd. The cost to attend is $25.

CITY COUNCIL — The city council will discuss tennis center operations and a budget process for reducing personnel services at a meeting next week.

In addition, the group will convene as the Lake Oswego Redevelopment Agency board for a study session about affordable housing in the Foothills district.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at city hall, 380 A Ave.

DRUG DISPOSAL — The city of Lake Oswego will hold a drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The one-day-only event will allow individual citizens to dispose of unwanted medications.

The police department will collect the discarded drugs and take them to a facility in Brooks for disposal.

Acceptable items to drop off include expired or unwanted prescription medicine, over-the-counter drugs, unknown tablets and capsules and pet medications.

Put these items in a sealed plastic bag before bringing them to the drop-off site.

Thermometers, sharps and medical waste will not be accepted. If you have these items, call Metro at 503-234-3000 for information about recycling them.
