Police arrest one suspect, search for another
One person was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a short police chase in Southeast Portland.
Officers said they responded to Hollywood Lights, located at 5251 SE McLoughlin Boulevard, around 3:30 a.m. after getting reports of a silent alarm being activated.
When an officer got to the business, he saw two men getting into a Jeep, police said.
The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but police said the driver refused to stop.
The short chase ended at Southeast 18th and Southeast Insley Street, police said, when the driver of the Jeep lost control trying to make a turn.
Both individuals in the SUV bailed and ran through the neighborhood.
Police were able to arrest one of the men as he was walking one block west of the crash scene, police said.
The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police did not know how he was hurt.
An employee of Hollywood Lights responded to the scene and police said he identified some of the items found in the Jeep as property belonging to the business.
Police said the Jeep the men were in was reported stolen.
The owner of the Jeep was asked by police to come identify her vehicle and some of the items inside of it, officers said.
Police have not located the second suspect, but said they were doing neighborhood searches.
