Tribe boys pick up first soccer win

Scappoose posts a 3-1 win over YC; falls to Astoria


The Scappoose High boys soccer team picked up their first win of the season on Monday, Oct. 1, topping Yamhill-Carlton, 3-1.

The score in the match was tied at halftime, and YC had the first score early in the second half.

Scappoose equalized the game when Devin Timmons made a drop pass to Jadyn Harris who put in the score. A bit later, Timmons hit Asa Flanagan on the run for the second goal. Hunter Gortler was taken down to draw a penalty kick and Timmons took the honors for the last goal.

The team played a tight game with Astoria on Wednesday, but lost, 3-2.

Timmons found Flanagan open on a penalty kick to knot the score early. Gortler put one in or near the goal later, and Ian Donaldson assured the score.

Astoria came out and scored twice more in the second half.
